Know Us Better

Adora Values

What we offer:

Play Based Learning
Our Play to Learn Curriculum offers teachers flexibility in lesson planning as themes are based on the children’s interests and skills. Children’s learning is enhanced by sensory-rich environments and meaningful experiences.

Enrichment Opportunities
Our program includes weekly Language, Arts, Physical Fitness and STEAM enrichment opportunities. Extracurricular activities are available with additional memberships.

Healthy Relationships
Children learn best when they feel safe and loved. Our teachers and staff create a welcoming, family atmosphere so that children feel secure and are able to thrive.

Appreciation and Respect for Nature
Teachers plan regular opportunities for outdoor exploration. Children learn about plants, animals, insects, and seasonal changes by spending time cultivating in our garden area.

Character Development
Through modeling and focus on social/emotional development, our goal is to not only shape little minds, but little hearts as well. At Adora Childcare, children are treated with respect and learn the values of teamwork, empathy, and self-awareness. We also team with local and national charitable organizations to model the importance of community service and giving.

Developmental Assessments
Teachers use developmentally appropriate strategies in planning lessons and introducing materials to the classroom. Individual child assessments are conducted and shared through parent-teacher conferences.

Nutritious Meals
We provide nutritious breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks that meet USDA My Plate food intake guidelines. We are a peanut- and pork-free facility and can accommodate vegetarian diets.

Safety
Health and safety are of utmost importance, especially now. We continue to observe DSS and CDC guidelines for infection control. All adults must wear face coverings in the buildings and when social distancing is not possible. Our policies are updated as new information is made available regarding COVID-19.

We believe that quality care from a young age has a huge impact on children’s future successes. Children are born ready to learn, and we have a unique way of encouraging their thirst for knowledge. Our mission is to support families with young children by providing a safe, structured, nurturing environment in which children can play, learn, and grow.

Play to Learn Curriculum

Our play-based curriculum is designed to strategically focus on the specific developmental needs of each child. Our domains and goals closely align with state and national early learning and school readiness standards to thoroughly nurture and assess developmental growth and school readiness.
Our talented teachers create weekly lesson plans based primarily on the observed interests of the children in their care. Lesson plans include individual and group goals, as well as weekly assessment strategies that supplement future planning, and are structured using four curriculum domains.

STEAM

YOUNG CHILDREN ARE NATURALLY CREATIVE, PERSISTENT AND CURIOUS.

STEAM is the acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math, a comprehensive approach to learning that fosters critical thinking, inquiry, problem solving, creativity and innovation. S.T.E.A.M learning happens naturally everyday as children explore, play and try new things. Our teachers provide various opportunities for children to be immersed in STEAM activities that will create a strong foundation for future learning.

7 Benefits of S.T.E.A.M Learning in an Early Education Setting

There are numerous benefits of STEAM learning in early childhood development. Here are some of the most significant benefits:

  1. Develops Problem-Solving Skills: STEAM learning encourages young children to think critically and solve problems creatively. When children are given hands-on activities and experiments, they learn to ask questions, observe, experiment, and find solutions to problems. This helps foster children’s natural curiosity and become better problem solvers in all areas of life.
  2. Improves Cognitive Development: STEAM learning in early childhood education supports cognitive development by promoting the development of logical thinking, spatial reasoning, and mathematical skills. This approach helps children build a strong foundation for future in STEM subjects.
  3. Encourages Creativity: STEAM learning encourages creativity and innovation in young children. When children are given the freedom to experiment and explore, they are more likely to think outside the box and come up with new ideas. This can help them to become more creative in all areas of life, including the arts, science, and technology.
  4. Develops Collaboration and Communication Skills: STEAM learning encourages children to work in groups and communicate with one another. This helps them to develop social skills and learn how to work collaboratively. When children work together on a project, they learn how to share ideas, listen to others, and compromise.
  5. Enhances Fine Motor Skills: STEAM learning often involves hands-on activities that require fine motor skills, such as cutting, pasting, and building. These activities can help young children to develop their fine motor skills, which are essential for tasks such as writing, drawing, and using tools.
  6. Improves Confidence: STEAM learning can help to build confidence in young children. When children are successful in completing a project or experiment, they feel a sense of accomplishment and pride. This can help to boost their self-esteem and confidence in their abilities.
  7. Encourages Curiosity and Lifelong Learning: STEAM learning encourages young children to be curious about the world around them. When children are given the opportunity to explore and experiment, they are more likely to develop a love for learning that will stay with them throughout their lives.

In conclusion, incorporating STEAM activities and projects into a child’s education can provide a range of benefits that extend far beyond the classroom. It can establish a lifelong love for learning, build confidence and self-esteem, develop critical thinking skills, nurture creativity, improve communication skills, and aid in sensory development. As such, STEAM learning can be an invaluable tool for parents and educators looking to provide children with the tools they need to succeed in all areas of their lives.
